Prehistory

From the dawn of Prehistory, the fertile meadows of the Vega del Alagón favoured the settlement of man in groups to take advantage of its lands.

The first human evidence in the municipal territory of Coria is represented by the abundance of stone tools, mostly made from quartzite and belonging to the Lower Palaeolithic (1,500,000– 100,000 BC), which have been discovered in various sites dating back to the late Acheulean Stage (c. 300,000 BC) and scattered across different points of the fluvial terrace of the Alagón River near the Rincón del Obispo district.
