Canchos de Ramiro
Rugged landscapes turned into a natural biosphere reserve of Extremadura.
A Special Protection Area for Birds (ZEPA), it is located west of the City of Coria and the heart of the Alagón Valley region, whose watercourse plays an important role as a wildlife corridor hemmed in by the Serranías de los Canchos mountain range, one of the most important geographical features of Extremadura.
An abundance of flora proliferates in this beautiful landscape, which is also home to some endangered species like the European wildcat and common genet, and an extremely interesting birdlife represented by a large colony of Eurasian black vultures and griffon vultures, along with other raptors such as red kites, peregrine falcons, Bonelli’s eagles, Eurasian eagle-owls, Egyptian vultures, and some black storks.
