International Guitar Festival of the City of Coria
A musical event that combines heritage and culture, with a focus on entertainment and learning while also promoting tourism.
Since its inception, the International Classical Guitar Festival of the City of Coria, as an end-of-year concert of the Municipal School of Music (Escuela Municipal de Música), has become an important event for the world of Spanish guitar. Held at the beginning of August, it combines an excellent series of concerts, in addition to the course for students who are part of the Summer Course. These melodic chords have lured the enthusiasts of the six strings to this unmatched setting composed of the Plaza de la Catedral and Plaza de España, as well as the interior of the Cathedral where over a thousand students from 50 different countries have already received music education.
In the opening concerts of this festival, several world-class musicians left their indelible artistic mark, including Manolo Sanlúcar, Vicente Amigo, José Mercé, Raimundo Amador, Tomatito, Estrella Morente, Carlos Núñez, Pasión Vega, Ara Malikian, Diana Navarro, and Sara Baras. There is a long list of artists who are to step on this historic stage that is the atrium of the Gospel (Evangelio) of the Cathedral of St. Mary of the Assumption (Catedral de Santa María de la Asunción), as well as the world-renowned teachers and classical guitarists who have already offered their concerts in its imposing interior, including Pablo Sáinz, Ricardo Gallén, Aniello Desiderio, Pavel Steidl, Marcin Dylla, Carlo Marchione, Pablo Márquez and Dennos Azabagis.
