Botanical Gerden
A whole new world of sensations and a magical natural spectacle in an area dedicated to relaxation and a Centre for Environment Education.
The beautiful Botanical Garden of Coria is located in what was once the Nursery of the Ministry of Public Works that supplied elms and acacias for the now-defunct and prohibited custom of planting rows of trees on the margins of the kerbs of the old roads. Today, its wide expanse of 1.5 hectares is home to a rich collection of flora that represents the Mediterranean forest.
An excellent Interpretation Centre for Mediterranean Flora composed of holm oaks, cork oaks, oak groves and riverside forests that officially opened for the public on 3 April 1995 and offers environmental education and awareness to countless schoolchildren, associations, institutions, botanists, plant nursery owners and other people who visit these facilities daily. The most outstanding feature here is the 130-years-old enormous Platanus hispanica, which stands 30 metres tall and has been declared a singular veteran tree of Extremadura.
