In recent years, the bishops of Coria-Cáceres, together with the Cathedral Chapter of the Diocese and the City Council of Coria, have encouraged various initiatives to spread awareness of this relic and promote its veneration. These efforts have also been supported by different public institutions at the local, provincial, and regional levels.
The Tablecloth was displayed in the exhibition “Verum Corpus,” organized by the Diocese of Coria-Cáceres at the Church of San Francisco Javier in Cáceres (2005), and in 2014 it was featured in the exhibition “Eucharistia,” part of the series “The Ages of Man,” in Aranda de Duero (Burgos). The continuity of the research work mentioned above was ensured in 2016 with the establishment of the “Center for the Study of the Tablecloth of the Cathedral of Coria,” an entity under the Cathedral Chapter dedicated primarily to the scientific study of the relic.
In 2021, a 56-minute documentary filmed in Extremadura, Murcia, Colorado, Rome, and the lands of Jerusalem was presented, accompanied by a series of interviews with figures from the ecclesiastical and scientific worlds. In 2022, a polyptych dedicated to the Tablecloth, created by Raquel Clemente Rubio, was added to the Cathedral Museum. Work is currently underway to relocate the Tablecloth to the chapel prepared for this purpose in the 18th century.
In 2026, led by the City Council of Coria, the sacred cloth of the Last Supper—according to Christian tradition—was promoted at the 46th edition of the International Tourism Fair in Madrid (FITUR), through a promotional video under the slogan: “The Holy Tablecloth of Coria. Universal Relic of Christianity: Discover Your Destination.”
These and other initiatives demonstrate the continuity of a centuries-old tradition in the preservation and veneration of the relics housed in the Cathedral of Coria.
