In 1811, during the Peninsular War (1808-1813), General Junot wreaked havoc on the lands of Coria, reaching as far as its city gates, after he ran into it in the course of the subjugation campaign carried out across Extremadura.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>However, this would not be the last conflict that this millenary city had to face because, after the abolition of the absolutist doctrine in favour of the revolutionary 19th-century liberalist ideas, Coria lived through the unfortunate episodes of the Spanish Civil War (1936-1939). Nevertheless, recent history reveals other more uplifting data about this city that began to walk thousands of years ago knowing how to unite its historical past, with a dynamic and entrepreneurial present, to become an appealing and thriving hub that seeks its definitive economic boom, through industrialisation and tourism, in order to promote and improve the socioeconomic status of its
