wp-block-column-is-layout-flow\">\n<div style=\"height:20px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p style=\"font-size:17px\"><strong>Site arch\u00e9ologique des souvenirs v\u00e9tustes du silence monacal franciscain reposant dans la ville de Coria.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Fondation de Don Fernando \u00c1lvarez de Toledo (1507-1582), duc d&#8217;Albe, en 1561, \u00e0 la demande de l&#8217;\u00e9v\u00eaque Don Diego Enr\u00edquez de Almansa, pr\u00e9lat \u00e0 cette \u00e9poque du dioc\u00e8se de Coria (1550-1565), d\u00e9saffect\u00e9 au milieu du XIXe si\u00e8cle et dont il ne reste plus aujourd&#8217;hui que les ruines.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"margin-bottom-50\">Un \u00e9difice monastique dont nous savons qu\u2019il \u00e9tait pr\u00e8s de l&#8217;aqueduc existant, peut-\u00eatre de facture romaine, dont l&#8217;aspect a d\u00fb \u00eatre assez alt\u00e9r\u00e9 par les reconstructions effectu\u00e9es ensuite, comme l&#8217;a confirm\u00e9 Antonio Ponz dans son ouvrage Viage de Espa\u00f1a ; pendant les travaux d&#8217;approvisionnement, qui ont dur\u00e9 jusqu&#8217;au XIXe si\u00e8cle en raison de l&#8217;\u00e9tat d&#8217;abandon ult\u00e9rieur de la canalisation, le cours d\u2019eau naissait au nord-ouest du centre urbain dans le lieu connu populairement sous le nom de &#8220;La Madre del Agua&#8221; (la m\u00e8re de l\u2019eau) : une source proche de la commune qui pouvait tr\u00e8s bien approvisionner en eau l&#8217;antique Caurium romaine, et, de l\u00e0, elle continuait son chemin en longeant le couvent de San Francisco et la partie nord des remparts, jusqu&#8217;aux environs de la Porte de Saint Pierre, en apportant de l&#8217;eau aux fontaines situ\u00e9es dans le faubourg de San Francisco et la Plaza
