Like the old stories that are discovered between the robust bars of the old <strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/turismocoria.es\/turismo\/en\/other-places-of-interest\/royal-prision\/\" data-type=\"page\" data-id=\"8239\">Royal Prison<\/a><\/span><\/strong> (C\u00e1rcel Real) from the 17th century, a civil prison turned into a centre of punishment and social repression, whose <strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/turismocoria.es\/turismo\/en\/history-for-the-whole-family\/behind-bars\/origins-of-corias-prison\/\" data-type=\"page\" data-id=\"8389\">origins as a prison<\/a><\/span><\/strong> were always closely linked to the history of the city. Since its <strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/turismocoria.es\/turismo\/en\/history-for-the-whole-family\/behind-bars\/foundation-of-corias-royal-prison\/\" data-type=\"page\" data-id=\"8393\">foundation as a prison<\/a><\/span><\/strong> through the different <strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><a class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Between bishops\u2026<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The times that have passed and yet present, in which the ancient ecclesiastical Seat presided the Cauriensis-Castrorum Caeciliorum as one of the oldest in Spain, as revealed by the <strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/turismocoria.es\/turismo\/en\/history-for-the-whole-family\/between-bishops\/origins-of-the-diocesis-of-coria\/\" data-type=\"page\" data-id=\"8400\">origins of the Diocese<\/a><\/span><\/strong>, where its generous Bishops were elected as representatives of the Church, in the interests of nobles and kings, from the early days of the <strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/turismocoria.es\/turismo\/en\/history-for-the-whole-family\/between-bishops\/foundation-of-the-cathedral-of-coria\/\" data-type=\"page\" data-id=\"8404\">founding of the Cathedral of Coria<\/a><\/span><\/strong> at least during the Middle Ages, until they became the figures that marked and profoundly changed the ancient and modern history of the city, in addition to their direct intervention in the different <strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/turismocoria.es\/turismo\/en\/history-for-the-whole-family\/between-bishops\/constructions-satages-of-the-cathedral\/\" data-type=\"page\" data-id=\"8406\">stages of the
