XV)<\/em><\/h1>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:20px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-columns margen-izquierdo-50 margen-derecho-50 margin-top-50 is-layout-flex wp-container-core-columns-is-layout-1 wp-block-columns-is-layout-flex\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-column is-layout-flow wp-block-column-is-layout-flow\">\n<p style=\"font-size:17px\"><strong>S\u00edmbolo de poder y de dominio se\u00f1orial en la Ciudad de Coria declarado Bien de Inter\u00e9s Cultural con categor\u00eda de Monumento, el 21 de junio de 1988.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>El Castillo de Coria es el primer testimonio conservado del dominio se\u00f1orial en la ciudad, cuya elegante Torre del Homenaje fue trazada por el arquitecto Juan Carrera, entre 1473 a 1478, por mandato de D. Garc\u00eda \u00c1lvarez de Toledo (\u2020 1488), Duque de Alba y primer Marqu\u00e9s de Coria. Obra de ingenier\u00eda militar, ubicada al noroeste de la Muralla romana sobre otra fortificaci\u00f3n anterior acometida por los Templarios en el siglo XII, que presenta planta con figura de pent\u00e1gono irregular, a modo de tajamar, que sobresale del recinto amurallado, y cuya f\u00e1brica fue realizada en siller\u00eda gran\u00edtica perfectamente labrada y escuadrada.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Completa la torre el denominado popularmente \u201cCastillejo\u201d: peque\u00f1o cuerpo almenado intramuros en el que se ubica la puerta en recodo de entrada que, dotada de puente levadizo, era defendida por medio de una torre casamata circular, adem\u00e1s de un soberbio foso de enormes proporciones trazado por Tom\u00e1s Bret\u00f3n en 1473, hoy parcialmente visible. Rematando decorativamente todo el conjunto fortificado, aparece una cornisa corrida de bolas o pomas alojadas en arquillos ciegos sobre canes que rodea todo el per\u00edmetro total de las almenas de estilo g\u00f3tico final o isabelino.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"margin-bottom-50\">Actualmente, el Castillo de los Duques de Alba no es visitable su interior al ser una propiedad privada, y tan solo
